Officials and personnel of the Commission on Audit (COA) Regional Offices No. IV-A and IV-B committed to Integrity as a way of life during the Integrity Pledge ceremony held at the COA Cultural and Sports Complex.

COA Commissioners Jose A. Fabia and Roland C. Pondoc administered the oath taking to 423 officials and personnel of COA Region IV-A led by Regional Director Mario G. Lipana and Assistant Regional Director Maria Oliva V. Ortega on 1 March 2019.

Meanwhile, 277 COA Region IV-B personnel led by Regional Director Ma. Corazon S. Gomez and Assistant Regional Director Lynflor M. Adolfo, five employees from COA Region IV-A, and one from the Professional and Institutional Development Sector took their Integrity oath before Commissioner Pondoc on 26 March 2019.

The Integrity Pledge is part of the activities implemented by the COA Integrity Management Committee under the COA Intensified Management Program on Integrity which aims to build a culture of integrity in the Commission, rooted in the strict adherence to established laws and regulations. The signed Integrity Pledge will form part of the 201 files of the participants.

COA Chairperson Michael G. Aguinaldo, in his video message, stressed the importance of integrity not only in the workplace but also in the way a person lives his life. “As public servants, we are held to a higher standard and we have to be able to show to our fellow citizens that we do not only work hard and try to do good in our work but also try to serve with Integrity,” he said.

Commissioner Fabia reminded COAns to perform their work right and within the bounds of law while Commissioner Pondoc added that the Commission Proper will always continue reminding COA officials and employees to always keep their integrity intact.

Region IV-B Director Gomez said liberating the government from graft and corruption begins with impeccable integrity. “The Integrity Pledge refreshes us of our purpose in the government service, resets in our minds the values we need to carry to uplift the country, and reminds us to never let our guard down in our work because temptation is abound everywhere in the workplace,” she said.

Assistant Regional Director Adolfo thanked Commissioner Pondoc for advocating the Integrity Pledge in the Commission and the Commission Proper for establishing the COA Intensified Management Program on Integrity.

Also discussed were salient features of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and the Revised Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for COA Officials and Employees. # - with reports from Mr. Jefferson Leguiab and Atty.
