COA Commissioner Roland C. Pondoc was conferred with the 2022 PICPA Special Achievement Award in Community Service during PICPA’s National Awards Night held in Cebu City.
The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) conferred the prestigious 2022 PICPA Special Achievement in Community Service Award to Commission on Audit (COA) Commissioner Roland C. Pondoc during the Awards Night on 24 November 2022 at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City. The event was part of PICPA’s 77th Annual National Convention held from 23-26 November 2022 with the theme, “Play it Forward: Securing a Sustainable Future.”
PICPA recognized Commissoiner Pondoc’s exemplary performance and significant contributions in the pursuit of projects and objectives of organizations in other fields. The annual awards are hallmarks of the organization member’s achievements, integrity, and contribution to PICPA and the Accountancy profession in general.
Commissioner Pondoc was honored for his “genuine dedication and selfless service in the promotion of community projects of the numerous organizations he joined and led as an educator, free legal advisor and financial donor.” He was responsible for spearheading social-economic projects that are geared towards the upliftment of the general well-being of economic-challenged families and communities.
PICPA also cited the Commissioner’s “consistent and selfless efforts in providing free legal assistance to indigent patients while working as legal officer for a public hospital and learning materials to poor but deserving students.”
“I am deeply honored by PICPA’s recognition of the social-economic projects that we have started. We can all afford to share time and expertise and pay forward the blessings and gratitude we have especially during these trying times,” Commissioner Pondoc said.
Commissioner Pondoc was also a forum panelist during the technical session on the topic, “The Great Resuffle: Recruitment and Retention Challenges” that was held on 25 November 2022 at the same venue. The session discussed the most prevalent challenges encountered by businesses in the management of its workforce, particularly in employing best practices to cope with the issues and concerns in hiring and retaining personnel.
Over 4,500 Filipino CPAs worldwide attended the PICPA 77th Annual Convention to promote excellence in the accounting profession, prepare accountants for future challenges, and strengthen the bond of unity among Filipino CPAs as they collaborate to achieve the aspirations of PICPA. #
