The Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) Commission on Audit (COA) Central Office Chapter received the prestigious Gawad Antonio Luna Award from the Philippine Blood Center (PBC) in recognition of the chapter’s significant contribution to saving lives through the successful collection of 495 units of blood for Calendar Years 2020 and 2023.

COA Director Michael R. Bacani (National President, MOVE) receives the Gawad Antonio Luna trophy from Mr. J.R. Laxamana of the Philippine Blood Center. Looking on are Director Richard M. Fulleros (Executive Vice-President, MOVE) and Mr. Randel Tapia (Secretary, MOVE).

The PBC, an attached agency of the Department of Health, recently conferred the award to MOVE COA Chapter officials during a bloodletting activity at the COA Sports and Cultural Center on 9 December 2024.

The MOVE COA Central Office Chapter conducted two successful blood drives on 4 May 2022 and 31 May 2023, yielding 356 units and collecting 139 units respectively. These drives gained active participation from COA employees and their families, students, parents, staff, and teachers from Doña Juana Elementary School, and uniformed military personnel. The National Children’s Medical Center facilitated the first drive, while the PBC supported both.

Making a difference to Filipinos, COA’s generosity allocated 70% of donated blood to indigent patients and 30% for its concerned employees and their immediate family. Recognizing the critical need, COA has consistently supported PBC, fulfilling over 75 requests for 3-4 blood bags each. The effort significantly benefits those in need.

The able leadership of Commissioners Roland Café Pondoc and Mario G. Lipana, and Assistant Commissioner Alexander B. Juliano, made the activity very successful. The cooperation and support extended by all the officers and members of MOVE made the undertaking very productive.

Assistant Commissioner Fortunata M. Rubico, Chairperson of the Technical Working Group, COA Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (FPS), Directors Michael R. Bacani and Richard M. Fulleros, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all participants in the bloodletting activities, noting that the award serves as a powerful testament to COAs unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Filipino people. It demonstrated that public service extends far beyond auditing.

The MOVE COA Central Office Chapter was established as one of the GAD efforts of the Commission’s GFPS. #
