COA Commissioner Roland Café Pondoc to lead COA Delegation at 16th ASOSAI Assembly

As Senior Commissioner of the Commission on Audit (COA), Commissioner Roland Café Pondoc is set to lead the COA delegation to the 16th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) in New Delhi, India from September 21 to 27, 2024. The Assembly will gather key representatives from across Asia to discuss important audit issues and set the direction for the organization.

The ASOSAI is a key regional entity under the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). Founded in 1979 with 11 members, ASOSAI has since grown to include 47 Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from across Asia.

Commissioner Pondoc, who is the incumbent President of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), in his article under the PICPA Talks column recently published in the Manila Bulletin, emphasized that COA has been an active member of ASOSAI for many years. He further mentioned that COA has signified its intention to be elected as a member of the ASOSAI Governing Board (GB). The election, as one of the highlights of the Assembly, will involve filling seven vacant posts for the GB and two vacant posts for the Audit Committee. As stipulated in the Association of Supreme Audit Institutions of the ASEAN (ASEANSAI) Executive Committee Work Plan for 2024-2025, COA will represent as the incumbent Chair of the ASEANSAI. On behalf of COA Chairperson Gamaliel A. Cordoba, Commissioner Pondoc’s guidance will be pivotal in representing the Philippines and advocating for the country's interests within ASOSAI’s framework.

COA Auditors attend the Audit Capacity Building Training Program sponsored by the Board of Audit and Inspection of the Republic of Korea

Ten Commission on Audit (COA) auditors recently attended the Single Country Audit Capacity Training Program hosted by the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) of South Korea, through its Audit and Investigation Training Institute (AITI).

Held in Seoul, South Korea from 17 to 27 June 2024, the training was facilitated by the COA International Audit and Relations Office. The COA participants in the training program were Assistant Directors Marilyn B. Miran from the Local Government Audit Sector, Richard M. Fulleros from the Corporate Government Audit Sector (CGAS), and Abdul Nassif M. Faisal from CGAS, Atty. Elizabeth P. De Vera from COA Regional Office No. I, Ms. Maria Sharon B. Reyes from COA Regional Office No. V, Mr. John Gilbert P. Pio from the National Government Audit Sector (NGAS), Ms. Mary Grace S. Calamba from NGAS, Ms. Maria Shella P. COA holds Learning and Development Summit for 2024: Revolutionizing COA’s Capacity Building with up-to-date L&D Strategies

The Commission on Audit (COA) conducted the first Training Specialists Competency Updates/ Learning and Development Summit as part of its continuous efforts to bridge the competency gap of its workforce. Sixty-four Training Specialists (TS) from the COA Professional Development Office (PDO) and Regional Training Units (RTUs) participated in the event that was hosted by the COA Regional Office No. XI on 18-20 June 2024 in Davao City.

The initiative is part of the PDO’s focus for 2024 to further enhance the capacity of COA TS and facilitators as well as calibrate its existing training plan to attune with the latest developments in the field and realize overall organizational goals. It aims to equip COA personnel holding TS positions and those who are performing the functions of a TS, with the latest innovations in managing training activities, either in-person or online, and to hone their processing/observation skills with other training-development solutions, all geared towards attaining personal and organizational excellence and integrity.
