Energy Conservation Measures |
Pursuant to Administrative Order No. 228 dated June 2, 2008, issued
by the Office of the President, entitled "Addressing the Rising Cost of Energy",
and in connection with our continuing effort to reduce energy, cost, the
following conservation measures are to be implemented:
Air-conditioning units in all offices shall be turned
on at 8:00 a.m. and off at 4:30 p.m. except those with 24-hour work. There
shall be no use of the air-conditioning system during Saturdays, Sundays and
Holidays.
All electricity-based lights, except those used for
security, safety and overtime work, shall be turned off from 12:00 noon to
1:00 p.m.
All electrical equipment, appliances and electrical
facilities shall be switched off when not in use.
The use of lightings and electrical equipment at the
COA Sports Complex and the Tennis Court shall start at 5:00 p.m. and end at
7:00 p.m.
Lightings at COA Green Park shall be turned-off at 7:00
p.m., except the perimeter lights for security reasons.
All leaks and malfunctions of water closets, faucets,
urinals, etc. should be immediately reported to the Maintenance and Security
Division (MSD), General Services, Administration Sector at tel. nos. 9315138
and local 2010.
Fuel consumption for all light weight service vehicles
is reduced to 162 liters per month per vehicle.
The use of all service vehicles including buses shall
be strictly limited to official trips only. Requests to use COA
vehicles/buses to pay last respects and/or to attend burials of departed COA
employees are allowed within Metro Manila only. The requesting party shall
shoulder the cost of gasoline/diesel expenses.
In this connection, an Energy Conservation Monitoring Team from the
General Services created under Administration Sector Office Order No. 035 dated
August 06, 2008 is hereby directed to conduct inspection of the different
offices in the Central Office to ensure compliance of the cost-cutting measures
of the Commission. They shall submit a monthly report to the undersigned
thru the Assistant Commissioner, Administration Sector regarding the
accomplishments in terms of savings realized, problems encountered and offices
that were found to have violated this memorandum.
