COA Assistant Commissioner Jaime P. Naranjo led members of the Government
Association of Certified Public Accountants (GACPA) on its 29th
Annual National Convention held at Cebu City on October 10-13, 2007.

Together with the convention’s chairperson Director Roy L. Ursal and Cebu
City Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña, AsCom Naranjo welcomed participants to the four-day
event. Senator Richard J. Gordon and Cebu Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia also
graced the event with their keynote addresses.
The Convention kicked off with an energy boosting golf tournament early
Wednesday, October 10. A luncheon meeting among the National Board, Chapter
Presidents, the convention committee and sub-committees, motorcade, courtesy
call to local officials and a sportsfest completed day one.
Technical sessions highlighted the entire convention, with topics on "Living
the Dream of Homeownership through the Pag-IBIG Housing Program" discussed by
Pag-IBIG President Romero F.S. Quimbo; "The Lifestyle Check in Relation to the
Anti-Corruption Program of the Government" discussed by the Presidential
Anti-Graft Commission Chairman Dr. Constancia P. de Guzman; "The Role of the
Commission on Audit in the Promotion of Good Governance" discussed by
Commissioner Juanito G. Espino Jr.; and "Facing the Challenges of Financial
Reporting and its Risk Management Implications discussed by SGV Partner Mr.
Wilson P. Tan.

A Thanksgiving Mass started the last day of the convention, October 13. This
was followed by a closing plenary session focusing on presentations and approval
of resolutions drafted by the participants based on the topics discussed in the
earlier sessions. GACPA Executive Vice President Ms. Emma Linda B. Faria
formally closed the Convention.
