PhilGASEA celebrates
11th anniversary

The Philippine Government Audit Service Employees Association (PhilGASEA) marked its 11th founding year on September 20, 2001 with simple commemorative activities at the COA Complex in Quezon City.

PhilGASEA President Jun Virtudazo, Vice President Ven Quiambao and Board Chairperson France O. Sanchez and other leaders of the Association led the celebration that was highlighted by a Thanksgiving Mass, a short program, sports activities and the traditional raffle draw.

The theme for this year’s celebrations was “PhilGASEA - Sama-sama sa Ika-Labing-isa!”

COA Chairman Guillermo N. Carague was the guest of honor and speaker during the program where he assured the PhilGASEA officials and members that his leadership is committed to the promotion of the professional growth, and of the welfare and general well-being of COAns, particularly the rank-and-file.

The Chairman received a big applause from the appreciative PhilGASEAns when he emphatically told them that COA will give to them all benefits that are authorized by law as well as those that may be agreed upon between the Management and the PhilGASEA.

He vowed to preserve the reputation of COA as an Employee-Friendly Employer in the public sector even as he reiterated that his office is always ready to receive and discuss with them work-related problems and issues.

President Virtudazo for his part recited a litany of his leadership accomplishments topped by the recently-concluded collective negotiation agreement with the COA Management.

He vowed to continue the various welfare services that PhilGASEA extends to its members and announced that the publication of a PhilGASEA Newsletter is forthcoming.

Games featuring a basketball exhibition match that saw the speed and shooting power of special guest Phil Newton of the MBA’s San Juan Knights, were held after the program.

Chairman Carague congratulates the officers and members of the PhilGASEA for another year of productive efforts at strengthening public sector unionism and assures the rank-and-file COAns of payment of all benefits authorized by law.  Lower photo shows the big crowd of PhilGASEAns enjoying the Bingo game, one of the activities during the 11th anniversary celebration of the Union.

Overall Coordinator of the fun games was Sports Committee Chair Willie Agito with Rupert Salvanera, Boy San Luis, Jr., Dr. Nelda Locsin and Lorna Cabochan as members.

At noon, a thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Fr. Charles of the St. Peter’s Parish who, in his homily congratulated the Philgasea on its 11th year of existence.

Dr. Locsin, Salvanera, Lulu Guzman and Carmelita Salandanan were in charge of the Thanksgiving Mass.

In the afternoon, the traditional bingo socials coordinated by Lydia Asiado, France O. Sanchez and Atty. Nenita Dantes, took place at the Sports and Cultural Center drawing hundreds of PhilGASEAns hoping to win the big prizes at stake.
