Chairman Celso D. Gañgan and Commissioners Raul C. Flores
and Emmanuel M. Dalman inaugurated the Materials Development and Production
Building at the COA Complex in Quezon City on October 20, 2000.
The three top COA officials who compose the Commission Proper
(CP), also graced the early morning blessing of the newly-renovated COA
dormitory.
Chairman Gañgan, assisted by Messrs. Flores and Dalman, cut
the ceremonial ribbon that signalled the opening of the MDPD Building after
unveiling the building’s marker.
After the ribbon cutting and marker unveiling rites, Rev. Fr.
Dante Tamayo of the Our lady of Hope Parish in Pag-asa, Quezon City blessed the
two buildings.
COA Assistant Commissioners, Directors and Assistant
Directors, and personnel of the State Accounting and Auditing Development Office
(SAADO), Administrative Office and others attended the ceremonies.
The COA dormitory was renovated at the cost of P2.3-million.
It can accommodate up to 80 guests at a time charging minimal lodging fees.
The Materials Development and Production Division Building on
the other hand cost COA P7.5 million to build. It has three floors: The first,
which serves as the printing and production area; the second which houses the
materials development and production division offices; and the third which
serves as depository of materials, supplies and finished products.
The old production building has been demolished to give way
to the expansion of the COA Centennial Park.
The new MDPD building is the latest addition to the completed
infrastructure projects under the Gañgan Administration which include regional
offices, training centers, the ATAP Building in Isabela, and dormitories in the
regions.
Its inauguration came less than three months after the CP inaugurated the new
P7-M "Tahanan sa COA" dormitory last July 28.
